Proposed pipeline route through Wirral

Peak Cluster is a £5billion project which aims to run an underground 198 km pipeline (maybe two), and large above ground installations (the size of nearly two football pitches) to remove carbon dioxide (CO2) and noxious gasses from cement works in Derberyshire and Staffordshire; transport it through Wirral, out into the Irish Sea to 'end of ife' gas fields near Morcambe

They are also proposing to build a 53 metre high pumping station (which will look like a chimney stack and be taller and bigger than Leasowe Lighthouse), and, as it needs to be as near to the sea as possible , the locations being considered are in the Meols/Moreton area.

What have WIRRAL REFORM UK done to highlight this:

• In 2025 we raised our concerns at Council meetings and the local media, but we were ignored

• On 4th July 2025 we wrote to ALL 66 Wirral councillors, again raising our concerns, not one Wirral councillor showed any interest or even replied

• In August 2025 we delivered a letter outlining our concerns to our local MPs. No reply to date

• In October 2025 we set up a national petition, but Wirral's political parties were not interested

Although this massively impacts Wirral and its environment, the final decision rests with national government.

Labour's Planning Act 2025 makes it harder for local communities to prevent projects like Peak Cluster. As the final decision rests with the Government, Ed Miliband and the planning Inspectorate are deciding OUR future.

Only REFORM UK will cancel ALL Carbon Capture (Peak Cluster) and Storage Schemes.
